Pay Per Click Day 1- Get Your Hands Dirty

by tzooming on January 11, 2010

Pay per click practitioners should start with Google from a learning perspective because it’s the most advanced PPC platform around. From a budgetary standpoint, one may choose Yahoo or MSN later on but in true 80/20 fashion, I suggest you go with Google first before deciding on any other form of search based PPC. The assumption I have here is that you would have gone through the Pay Per Click Hardcore Videos before going ahead.

The purpose of this Hands On Tutorial is to get you down and dirty on the knowledge, the fastest way to learn is to burn some cash and make as many mistakes as you can early. Nothing beats experience. For you to learn anything, you need to have an objective and I suggest using your own money, allocate say USD 200 to just play around for the search and content networks (later on). This exercise requires you to pick a product or offer and promote it so you are able to:
a) Enable Keyword Research for a particular product or campaign you would want to promote
b) Structure and create Keyword Ad groups for both Search and Content Network Campaigns
c) Create Text and Image Ads For the Campaign on the Google Search And Content Network
d) Create Landing Pages
e) Track Your Keywords and Campaigns
f) Set up conversion tracking
g) Set up Website Optimizer (A/B) Testing
h) Optimization of campaigns, ads and landing pages.

1. Create Your Own Adwords Account

2. Ensure You Only Have One Adwords Account For Now (If you have one before this, make sure you weren’t banned before, otherwise, get another account with another credit card if possible – Google knows if you have multiple accounts and they tend to not like it.)

3.Go to Clickbank.com or sign up to Commissionjunction.com and choose a product or offer to promote. Please choose a product with you would be interested to promote and are reasonably knowledgeable in.
